okay, I've seen the story and seen it linked to from several places, so don't take this all personal, mkay?

anyway.

why in bloody hell is reuters (and the AP) covering a DVD release?

aren't they supposed to cover news?

So, umm, what qualifies as news, then?

News is anything new which is interesting to the reader/viewer.

The Star Wars release is important to a lot of people, seeing as Lucas has been an absolute prick and had claimed he wasn't going to release them until the rest of the movies were complete. (He wanted to release them in timeline order ... 1-3, 4-6.)

Uh-huh, that's the literal definition of "news". What bothers me is the fact that there's no major news delivery service that doesn't cover pop entertainment.

I'd rather they cover nothing but real things that happen to real people, not fictional things that happen to fictional people on little plastic discs.

As to the reasoning behind why some people may be interested in the DVD, c'mon.. that argument has nothing to do with news delivery in the first place. People only care about Lucas' behavior regarding how Star Wars is released if they're already invested in Star Wars. It doesn't affect anything if he chooses to release them or not.

Ooh boy, this is almost as important as Dean screaming at a rally.

I'd much rather hear about campaign rallies than DVD releases, though.

Search me, but I'd bet my last chunk of wampum it's because of the Christian content of the film.

Rivetting ... yawn ... .
