Went back to the music store today and picked up peg stop, a pitch horn and a shoulder rest. Holding the violin is now much, much more comfortable.

I can now play Mary Had a Little Lamb. Amazing.

Ow, my wrists.

yeah, I remember... I played violin for a while in school, something to do with growing up listening to my dad play. Got thrown out of the class for making an obscene gesture to the teacher though.

Peg stop on a new violin? not fun.

If I may give one other tiny hint... Most violins come with a small block of rosin in the case.. Ditch it and go get yourself some decent stuff at the music shop. The stuff they package with 'em is always low-end and more likely to fragment than properly coat the horsehair.

And if you lose any more strings I have a word for you. "Pirastro" there are no better violin strings in the world.

yeh, I thought about the rosin for a moment when I was at Amro's yesterday.. my fleeting mind kept moving, though, heh. I'm gonna go back here soon, so I'll take a look then.

they also carry Pirastro products.. I'll give 'em a try next time. The ones I have now are these (http://www.amromusic.com/super-sensitive.htm).

Have you seen The Red Violin (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0120802/) yet? I saw it just last night. I ask since you're playing one now. It's a pretty cool movie.
