debian gets on my nerves.

why is it that the linux distro with the best install options happens to be the most crippled and behind on versions when it gets to the desktop?

Would you like for me to just go ON and ON with my answer to this question? :)

Well, first you take an Obsessive-Compulsive-Technological-Naming Disorder and feel the overwhelming need to tweak each new name with just enough actual functioning difference (to justify said new name) and finally make all these new entities vie for attention in the huggy-huggy market-family. The problem is that each new virtual-kiddie-on-the-block is merely a jumble of hardly traceable tweaks -- personality quirks -- and so deserve to be abandoned. Yet ... we adopt.

Because Linux is not a desktop operating system. :P
