The day before we left for San Antonio, Mom plugged in the sewing machine and hemmed a pair of pants.

In doing so, she unplugged the deep freeze.

I think you see where this is going, yes?

That's right. Forty pounds of cow, a good amount of deer, some leftover catfish and chicken, and blood. Gallons of blood.

Mr. Freeze, meet Ms. Bleach. I'm sure you'll make a great couple.

Thankfully, it's horizontal. Everything stayed in the bottom. The meat has been disposed of; now we're just waiting for the blood to freeze (as much as it will freeze, anyway. it turns into a blood slushie.) so it can be scraped out.

Also thankfully, dad leaves on a hunting trip in two weeks, so we'll have plenty of fresh deer, antelope, and maybe pheasant to replace what's been lost. that should last over the winter.. then next summer the store is sponsoring a 4-H cow, and we'll get the meat from that.

Heh. Something similar happened to me over the summer. You remember mom's old freezer containing all the pig meat from her pigs? Well, the freezing system died in the freezer, and I have 40 something pounds of pork rotting in my garage. MMMMmmmm the aroma. ;)
