My brother and his wife came into town Thursday to visit for his birthday. He still irritates me.
Anyway, Friday we (me, him&wife, and mom and dad) went down to Tom Lee Park to watch the fireworks go boom.
Eh.. Portland's show last year was better.
Then, over to Silky O'Sullivan's for drinks, where we were entertained(?) by dueling pianos for awhile.
The next morning we were all awakened to the news that my cousin, Sam, being both stupid and alcoholic, managed to shoot himself in the chest in his sleep. Apparently, he had left a loaded pistol on his nightstand, rolled over and hit it with his hand, and shot himself through the left chest, missing all major organs and landing in his diaphram. He's getting released from the hospital tomorrow.
Thursday, my grandmother's boyfriend is getting released from a different hospital. Contrary to the initial opinions of the doctors, he can indeed walk with just half a left foot remaining. This guy has been through hell.. Stroke a number of months ago, followed by a stomach aneurysm that led to gangrene and aputation. Fun! *sigh* He'd already been having a tough time as it is re-learning to use his arm after the stroke, now he's gotta re-learn to walk as well.
Today was apparently Things Will Fall Apart Day. At my dad's restaurant, a monitor fell out of the ceiling. A fryer broke down. One of his employee's stick shift just kind of.. came out. Here at the house, the hot water line under the kitchen sink decided it was going to fall out as well, leaving us with a flooded kitchen.
This is just the month for emergencies, both big and small, I guess. I'd been wishing for some eventfulness, but this isn't exactly what I had in mind.
In other news.. I've nearly finished the initial version of the php-nuke module I've been working on with my brother. I'm left with a definite sense of loathing for tables. Or, at least, my brother's knack for nesting the fuck out of them across multiple functions. Whee.
I find it extremely funny that the600club.com uses Google's AdWords service.
