Ahm bayack
May. 28th, 2002 05:58 pmOkay, typing this out a 2nd time, since apparently if you hit escape you'll wipe out the text box. Whee.
This weekend at IDA was a lot of fun. Everyone there was wonderful.. I met a bunch of great new people, and got to see some folk I'd met at Wolf Creek in Oregon as well, which was a pleasant surprise.
When we arrived Friday night, it was already too dark to put up the tent, so we hung out with some of the other visitors for a little while, drank beer, listened to Maxine's new song ("When the music stars to play..."), and then headed off to find a spot to crash for the night.
Saturday afternoon was spent hiking up to the waterfall, which was absolutely gorgeous.. Louis (loo-ee) had described the place to me, but really didn't prepare me for what it really was.. Three stories high, and wrapped around like an ampitheatre.. my first thought was that it was like a giant natural cathedral. We hung out there for awhile, wading and poking at the rocks, and then headed on back. That night, an Australian singer named Anna SomethingIForget did a performance, which was also a lot of fun -- she has a great voice, and really enjoys singing, so she's fun to watch as well.. Her performance was followed by a showing of a drag king/queen/genderfuck documentary.. then off to sit around Greg's tent to consume more beer, chatter wildly, (roll around in the grass a bit.. hee), and then bed.
Sunday afternoon was pretty low-key, mostly just hanging around the kitchen and smoking areas and waiting off hangovers.. Later that night, the IDA residents set up a DJ booth, some lights and whatnot, a big pink elephant bouncy room was inflated, and a mini-rave was put on.. not being a dancer, I mostly watched, but a great time was had by all.. they played lots of great music (helped out by Jupiter's improv lyrics.. yay. he's great.).
Monday morning, more hangovers :P.. most people were getting ready to leave, so everyone just kind of took it slow, sitting around and talking (and sweating. it was HOT) and we left around 5ish.. dozed most of the car ride home, and got back around 10:30.
and now.. here eye yam.
yay for stimulation. :)
