I ended up not sleeping at all Monday night, again. I should see a doc about this issue at some point.
Yesterday afternoon was spent mowing and weedeating the yard. Thankfully, dad had fixed the riding mower earlier on in the day, so it wasn't the horrid experience that being sleepless could have made it. The fact that it was 97F outside didn't seem to bother me much, for once.
After mowing the yard came.. cramps! whee! Apparently the ounce of milk I put in my coffee that morning was too much for my lactose-intolerant body to deal with. I used to be able to have that small of an amount.. Not anymore, it seems.
I lay down to take a nap, thinking I'd sleep off the cramping, which was effective. Of course, I ended up not waking up 'till 5:30am. That's about twelve hours of napping. Fun.
Anyway, on to the reason for my selection of mood..
Monday, I talked to my brother for a bit on the phone. He asked me if I wanted to learn Perl. I said sure. He went on to offer me $30 if I could complete a small assignment in one week: Add basic username&password access to an existing webboard he had written. I spent a couple hours that night looking over his code, and reading a couple beginner Perl tutorials.
I told him I'd start the actual work on it Tuesday afternoon, but my extended nap kind of destroyed those plans. So, I got busy as soon as I got up this morning.
Two hours later, I had it finished. woo! My code probably isn't very pretty at all, but it works.
Perl is seeming fairly easy, for now. Let's see if I still think the same once I move on to more difficult tasks.
