Things seem a little better this week. Dad's not been so irritable; his cholesterol level has taken a serious dive, and he feels better. Hopefully this trend continues; I'd like to beleive I just walked into the middle of him being cranky because of his meds.. He only has to take half as much tryptophan now, and is off the prednisone. (By the way.. his cholesterol went from 405 to 168. Still a little high, but.. wow.)

So, the first temp agency I tried, Express Services, has decided my references don't "meet their expectations for employment".. Uhh.. Okay. Apparently, 105wpm and 12000kph isn't fast enough to do data entry. Whatthefuckever. Tomorrow I go apply at another one, who's name escapes me at the moment. It's bigger, and better-established, and at the risk of stereotyping (or just sounding like I'm annoyed with Express) the lady on the phone sounded smarter. We'll see. If that doesn't work out.. I guess it's Wal-Mart, again.

I was thinking of maybe seeing if one of the two pet stores in town was hiring.. I have no work experience in that area, but I was wondering if maybe my personal experience would be enough.. All the dogs and cats I've had in my life, snakes, rabbits, plus helping with Terri's dozens of birds. (I miss Rasta. She was rad. I'm glad she's happy with Arlene.) We'll see.

This week has been pretty mundane, for the most part. Sat around a lot, did laundry, cut grass, and pulled poison oak out of the bushes. Thankfully, I'm immune to it.. On the surface, anyway. I didn't get a rash just from the leaves, but I've got two huge welts on my left arm from where broken branches (yes, branches.. this was pretty old growth) cut me. It's already healing, though.

I've got this system running better now.. Removing the unused winmodem and NIC, and getting rid of a bunch of stupid oem software seems to have helped. No more random Explorer crashes, but IE is still a little funky sometimes.

One thing that boggles me, is what when I start WinAmp, my connection goes poof. I don't get disconnected; but if I'm downloading, or trying to get a page, it stops mid-transfer. I close WinAmp, and the transfers pick right up again. Nothing else is affected.. my system doesn't get sluggish or anything, so I don't think it's a resources issues. I don't get it.

(Neat.)
